If you are taking tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline which is also known as Elavil, this can lead to dementia if you take it for too long. This drug blocks important brain messaging chemicals such as norepinephrine and serotonin which will in the long run lead to memory loss and loss of cognitive function.
