Onions Help Prevent Particular Cancers
Even in moderate amounts (1-2 times per week), onions have been shown to prevent the occurrence of ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, and laryngeal cancer. Moreover, taking onions daily has been shown to significantly lower risks for cancers of the mouth and the esophagus.
Specific amino acids in onions also aid in removing harmful heavy metals from our bodies. In particular, methionine and cystine cling onto lead, cadmium, and mercury (very harmful heavy metals) and help ease them out of the body.
